Short Information about myself:

I joined the department of Customs and Central Excise at a young age of 20 years in 1956. The major revenue yielding commodity then was "Unmanufactured tobacco". During the long service I was witness to various changes in the pattern of control and various new commodities that came within "the Central Excise net". In the matter of control system different changes were made e.g. Multiple Officers Range, Production based Control, Self Removal Procedure etc. The number of new taxed commodities, called for deep analytical study to ensure that taxability is correct.

As the scope of taxation widened, the legal litigations also increased which gave scope to learn the judicial procedures and the interpretation of various terminologies.

I took voluntary retirement from the department in 1991 and started my consultancy practice, which I continued till 2003. Thus I was associated with Central Excise for almost 47 years. The long service helped me in gaining knowledge while enjoying the work.
